This is new...

This is weird.
I can't figure out how to change the font.
And yes, that is important, how am I supposed to really start without a decent one?
Hm...

AHA! Found how to change them.

...and really, if they only have as few as I found, then this is not worth it. This one is hardly adequate.

So. Why?

Why did I start I blog.

I don't know.

Let's be honest: certain social situations make me shrink. I balked at Facebook and eventually deleted my account because I hated brushing (figurative and electronic) shoulders with peers I usually avoided. I didn't have any grand thoughts to post, and the one time I did, I hated it and felt awfully self conscious.

For one who is so "outgoing", "confident" and "social", I can be awfully private.

Facebook is the opposite of privacy.

So why?

Number one: I love to write. Love love LOVE it. When I feel thoughts pressing up against my skull, threatening to overwhelm me with their clattering racket and need to be heard, I write them down. Whooooosh, it all rushes out, heedless of the rules of grammar. If I have a guitar in hand, a song usually comes out, recorded in sprawling handwriting in my sketch book.
Words.
Words need to be adamantly heard.
My words do.

Number two: I read a friend's blog. More like an acquaintance. More like we were friends in years past and would still say nice things about each other and say hello if we were in the same elevator.
Her blog inspired me.
I'm an artist: piano, guitar, singing, painting, dressing, talking, writing, drawing, composing, dancing, thinking...I'm just an artist. I see art everywhere I turn and hidden hues no one noticed before.
The way she wrote, so frank, so earnest and so her...I wanted to do that, too. Maybe if I start with a very basic social networking thing (blogging) I may dare enough to use Twitter or *gasp* Facebook.

Gag me.

Number three: I already write about my life on the computer. I think a blog would be a nice--same concept, more visually stimulating, more friend interaction.

So.

That is why I decided to blog.

...let's see how it works, shall we?

Cheers.
